ADOPTION TRAINING COURSE 23-25 April 2027

Friday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM (starting with a shared breakfast)  
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM  
Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM 

During the training course, we explore various topics through methods such as discussions and group exercises. The topics include, for example, the impact of the child’s background and experiences, daily life after the child comes home, racism, and ethical issues regarding adoption. Our facilitators are adoptive parents who share their own experiences during the course.  

Adoption training course is a peer-group training that is free from evaluation, a space where prospective adopters can reflect and engage in confidential discussions with others in the same situation. The training allows space for the participants’ own questions and topics.

When should you attend?

You can take part in an adoption training course while still considering adoption, or at any stage of the adoption process. The training is suitable for those considering either domestic or international adoption.

Why should you participate?

Every child has a right to have a parent who is well-prepared and has honestly reflected on their own readiness and motivations. The training provides support for reflecting on aspects of adoption such as the child’s background and experiences, as well as the realities of adoptive parenthood. Participants will discuss topics such as child referrals and the background and health forms. The training also offers information regarding the initial period at home with the child.

“At first, my motivation for attending was simply that it was ‘mandatory’—the country we are adopting from requires it. I had read many positive accounts beforehand and wondered if I would be able to relate to them or find the training truly useful. But I certainly could relate—and it was definitely useful!”

Invoicing 
Registered participants will be sent an invoice six weeks prior to the start of the training course, with a 14-day payment term. The participation fee must be paid no later than 30 days before the training course begins. 

Adoption training course cancellation policy 

Cancellation without charge 
Participation may be cancelled free of charge more than 30 days before the start of the training course via the Webropol registration link. 

Cancellation within 30 days of the training 
If cancellation occurs less than 30 days before the start of the training course, the participation fee will not be refunded, unless the cancellation is due to illness and a medical certificate is provided (see below). 

Illness (subject to a medical certificate) 
More than 14 days before the start of the training: The participation fee is refunded in full. 
Less than 14 days before the start of the training: 50% of the participation fee is refunded. 

Interruption of the adoption process 
If the cancellation is due to the interruption of the adoption process and there are fewer than 30 days remaining until the start of the training course, please contact Yhteiset Lapsemme/All Our Children: adoptiovalmennus@yhteisetlapsemme.fi 

Failure to cancel 
If the registration is not cancelled and the participant does not attend, the full participation fee will be charged. The fees are subject to debt collection. 

Transferring to another training course 
The cancellation terms above also apply if a participant wishes to transfer to another training course. 

Cancellation of the training course by the organiser 
Yhteiset Lapsemme/All Our Children reserves the right to cancel the training due to low enrollment or other compelling reasons. In such cases, the participation fees paid will be refunded in full.
